Mendel University in Brno warmly invites you to participate in the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) on Authentic Experience in Sustainable Tourism: The Role of Geographical Indication (PDO/PGI), hosted by the Faculty of Business and Economics. This unique programme combines short-term mobility for both online and physical components. The physical sessions are scheduled from September 07 to 11, 2026, while the dates of the online session will take place on September 4. Designed only for students.

What can you expect?
This BIP offers an engaging learning experience focused on geographical indications, tourism development, and destination marketing. Participants will explore how labels such as Protected Designations of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Indications (PGI) can support regional identity, local producers, and authentic visitor experiences.
The programme combines online learning with practical on-site activities in the Czech Republic, including lectures, workshops, and field trips. Participants will gain insights into sustainable tourism, innovative product development, and real-world applications while strengthening their teamwork, creativity, and international cooperation skills.

Online part
- The online component of the program will take place on September 4, 2026, in the morning (approximately 10:00–12:00 CET) via an online platform such as MS Teams or Zoom.
- The session will begin with a brief introduction to the topic of geographical indications (PDO/PGI), followed by a guest lecture from an international expert. The lecture will focus on the role of geographical indications in tourism, including practical insights, research findings, and examples of how GI products contribute to destination marketing, regional promotion, and sustainable development.
- The session will conclude with an interactive discussion, allowing participants to engage with the speaker and consider how the presented knowledge can be applied in tourism product development.
