- the insurance is intended for all students participating in short-term and long-term international mobility activities, including study stays, traineeships, summer schools, conferences, and other educational or professional activities abroad.
- for international travel MENDELU strongly recommends purchasing insurance provided by ERGO.
- Students may choose a different insurance provider; however, in accordance with Erasmus+ programme requirements, the insurance policy must cover the following areas:
- travel insurance (including loss of or damage to luggage)
- third-party lialibility (including personal liability insurance and, where applicable, professional indemnity insurance towards the employer),
- accidents and serious illness (including permanent or temporary incapacity for work);
- death (including repatriation in the case of activities carried out abroad)
- Students who arrange insurance with a provider other than ERGO should be aware that the approval process for their mobility by MENDELU may be significantly extended:
- to verify compliance with the required insurance coverage, MENDELU reserves the right to review the submitted insurance documentation within a period of up to 45 days.
- The insurance certificate must be uploaded to the Checklist application in UIS (Student Portal → My International Mobilities)
Who is this insurance for?
- the insurance is intended for all students participating in short-term and long-term international mobility activities (study stays, traineeships, summer schools, conferences, and other educational or professional activities abroad).
- It applies to all types of mobility programmes (Erasmus+, CEEPUS, bilateral agreements, the Baltic University Programme (BUP), and other international mobility schemes).
- Students are required to arrange insurance coverage for the entire planned period of their international mobility.
How to arrange insurance?

- the insurance can be arranged entirely online
- payment of the insurance premium is made during the online application process. Payment by card is recommended.
- before travelling, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the insurance terms and conditions.
- we also recommend downloading the digital insurance card.
What should I do if something happens abroad?
- in the event of any life-threatening situation, you must contact the local emergency services immediately.
- in all other emergency situations, you may contact the Euro-Center assistance service.
- we recommend paying for minor medical treatments directly and keeping all receipts. The costs can be reimbursed subsequently.
